Time :

A day has 24 hours. To represents them , there are 2 commonly used time formats:

1. 12 hour format:  In 12 hour hour format a day is divided into two block of 12 hours each. The Time between midnight and noon is suffixed by A.M. and the time between noon and the midnight is suffixed by P.M.

2. 24 Hour format: In 24 hour format time start from 0000 hours and goes to 2359 hours. Here we don't use the AM or PM notations instead it is called in "hours".

Explanation:

Time taken by Bus 1: 5 hours 25 minutes. 

From 1915 hours to 0000 hours its 4 hours and 45 minutes and from 0000 hours to 0040  hours it took  40 minutes more. It will come out to be 5 hours 25 minutes.

Working in the same fashion for Bus 2 and Bus 3, we have,

Time taken by Bus 2: 5 hours 40 minutes.

Time taken by Bus 3: 5 hours 10 minutes.

Q2. What time is 4 hours 59 minutes before 2:58 P.M. ?
(1). 10:01 A.M.

Answer: (2).  9 :59 P.M.
Explanation: Let us break 4 hours 59 minutes into  2 parts. 1 is 2 hour 58 minutes and another will be 2 hours 1 minute. Now, 2 hours 58 minutes ago time as 1200 A.M. And 2 hours and 1 minute ago time should be 9:59 P.M. and hence the answer.
