Solution: Because 23/100 = 0.23


2. What number should be subtracted from the product 1109 x 505 so as to get 505050?
(1). 550055
(2).54995
(3).59495
(4). 49495

Answer: (2) 54995
 

Solution:  1109x505 = 560045 

And 560045 - 54995 = 505050




3. The sum of the positive factors of 210 is 
(1). 575
(2). 573
(3). 366
(4). 576

Answer: (4). 576

Solution: 210 = 2x3x5x7

And Sum of factors of a number = ( 2^0 + 2^1)(3^0 + 3^1)(5^0 + 5^1)(7^0 + 7^1) = 576

Else 

Factor of 210 are

210,105,70,42,35,30,21,15,14,10,7,6,5,3,2,1

therefore their sum is 210 + 105 + 70 + 42 +35+30+21+15+14+10+ 7 +6+ 5+ 3 + 2 + 1 = 576


4. A tank contains 240 litres (L) 128 millilitres (mL) of milk, which can be filled completely in 16 jars
    of the same size. Hoiw much milk ill be their in 22 such jars.?

(4). 330 L 176 mL

Answer:  (4). 330 L 176 mL

Solution: 

Milk in 1 jar = 240128mL  / 16

And milk in 22 Jars = (240128/16)X22 = 330176mL= 330 L 176 mL

5. 10 ones + 10 tens + 10 thousands equals

(2).10110
(3).11011
(4). 11100

Answer: (2) 10110

Solution:

 10 ones = 10 x1 = 10

 10 tens = 10 x 10 = 100

 10 thousands = 10 x 1000 = 10000

Add then to get 10110


6. Gorang worked 4(1/2 ) hours on Monday, 190 minutes on Tuesday, from 5:20 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday, and 220 minutes on Friday. He paid Rs. 42 per hour. How much did he earn from Monday to Friday?

(1). 550 Rupees
(2). 540 Rupees
(3). 637 Rupees
(4). 560 Rupees

Answer: (3). 637 Rupees

Solution:

Hours worked on Monday = 4 (1/2) 

Hours worked on Tuesday = 190/60 = 3(1/6) 

Hours worked on Wednesday = 3(5/6)

Hours worked o Thursday = 3 (4/6) 

Adding all the above hours to get    13 ( 1/2 + 1/6 + 5/6 + 4/6) hours = 13(13/6) = 91/6  hours

Per Hour rate is 42 and total earned = (91/6 ) x 42 = 637 hours


7. Number of Degrees in four and two-third right-angles is

(2).  330
(3). 400
(4). 310

 Answer: 420

Solution:

A right angle = 90 degrees

And 4 and two third right angle = 4(2/3) x 90 = (14/3)x 90 = 420 degrees



8. The Difference of the place value and the face value of 5 in 35362 is

Answer: 4995

Solution:

Place value of 5 in 353362 is 50000

and face value of 5 is                     5

And therefore the difference is  49995



9. Twenty-six and twenty-six hundredths is written as

Answer: (1).26.26

Twenty six = 26

and twenty-six hundredths = 26/100 = 0.26

Adding the two to get 26.26 

10. Difference of ( smallest common multiple of 4,5 and 6) and ( smallest common multiple of 5,6 and 9) is

(4). 30

Answer: (4). 30

Solution:

Smallest Common Multiple or LCM of  4,5,6 is 60

And Smallest Common Multiple or LCM  of 5,6,9 is 90.

And the difference between the two is 90 - 60 = 30


11. The product of remainders of 19009/11 and 9090/11 is

Answer: 4

Solution:

Remainder of 19009/11 is 1

And remainder of 9090/11 is 4 

And their product is 4x1 = 4


12. The sum of the greatest 4 digit number and the smallest 3 digit number is

Solution:

 Greatest 4 digit number is 9999

And smallest 3 digit number is 100

And when they are added             9999

13. A water tank is 11 m long, 10 m wide and 9 m high. It is filled with water to a level of 6 m. What part of the tank is empty?

Answer:  (1). 1/3

Solution:

 Volume of Empty space = 11x10x(9-6) = 11x10x3

And the Volume of entire tank = 11x10x9

Hence the Part that is empty of the entire tank is (11x10x3)/(11x10x9) = 1/3


14. How many 1/6 are there in 3(1/3)

(2).18
(3).20
(4). 12

Answer: (3).20

Solution:

Number of 1/6 in 3(1/3 ) = (10/3)/(1/6) = 10x2 = 20


15. Perimeters of a rectangle and a square are equal. Perimeter of the square is 96 cm and breadth of the rectangle is 4 cm less than the side of the square. Then two times the area ( in square cm) of the rectangle is

Answer: (3).1120

Solution:

Perimeter of square= 4 x l = 96

         => l = 24 cm

And given that the  breadth of the rectangle is 4 cm less than the side of the square. That means the breadth of the rectangle is 24 - 4 = 20 cm

Again the perimeter of the recxtangle is equal to that of the square.

=> 96 = 2 ( 20 + Length of the rectangle)

=> 48 = 20 + Length of the rectangle

=> 28 = Length of the rectangle

Therefore the area of the rectangle = 20 x 28 = 560

And the double of the area is 2x560  = 1120 ( sq. cm)
